Private Accounting

A private or corporate accountant works for a specific company or individual. The tasks of a private accountant are specific to the company that employs him.  Charitable organizations, government agencies and schools also employ private accounts. Public accounting is generally involved in the external reporting of financial data.

A private accountant is involved in helping managers make more informed decisions, control expenses, create budgets, set profit goals, design information systems, and improve efficiency.  A private accountant may also perform internal audits.

Private accountants are also called cost, managerial, corporate and industrial accountants. One of their duties is to prepare financial reports for stockholders, creditors, regulatory agencies and tax authorities. They may also be involved in planning and development of new products, and decisions on mergers or acquisitions.
